Today is (American) Thanksgiving. I am thankful for too many things to list here but here is the short list:
Friends, family, reasonably good health, resources, civility, pockets, wool shirts, the internet, running water, insulin, a job that affords me a good wage and respect, digital photography, etc…
Tomorrow is Black Friday. I worked enough retail to know a lot of people lose their s**t tomorrow and don’t get it back until the second week of January. If you find yourself in the whirling maelstrom of this retail experience please remember that those people behind the counter and the tired empty faces around you are also people.
Tomorrow is also the first day that one can decorate for Christmas without being a terrible person. This year I’m not going on the roof to hang lights. I think I figured out a way to just fall off the ladder rather than careen from the roof.
