The Onion On My Internet Belt

For those who don’t know there was no podcast or blog (blogcast?) last week due to failure by obsession. I had a great idea for a mix but the idea was stronger than the pile of songs I ended up with so I scrapped it. To compensate there are TWO MIXES this week! Further, they are on the same theme but in different genres.

This week I finished reading “Flight” by Sherman Alexie. Reading about harm coming to young people was difficult. It was a rewarding book and I enjoyed it. Alexie wrote in the style of Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse Five” to wonderful affect and effectiveness. As a theme the power of names ties this book to the likes of “The Woman Warrior” by Maxine Hong Kingston and “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman. If you haven’t read “Flight”, I would suggest you do.

I’m writing this at home on Thursday night. It’s throwing off my vibe. Usually I would write this throughout the work day on Friday, but I took the day off and am volunteering at Kiddo’s school instead. But for now, I think I’ll go play video games.

Thursday Night is video game night and Los Santos awaits.

Comments on: "Double Blogcast, Flight, and “The One” mix for 11-14-14" (5)

  1. Hey, Kraftwerk sample in that 808 State song 🙂

  2. “One Million Miles Away” is a gorgeous piece of music. I hadn’t heard it before.

  3. “One Light” is lovely as well. Thanks for this mix!

On the subject of Sherman Alexie, I have read lots about him and follow him on Twitter but oddly haven’t read his books. Must do so a.s.a.p.

  4. Enjoying the second mix, too. Bonus points for The Donnas.
